That's the wildman Enkidu. He was formed from clay to be Gilgamesh's rival but joined him in his escapades, defending animals and the like, killing them what needed killing such as those mentioned. It was Enkidu's death that got ol Gilga contemplating living forever, but you know? Ain't all it's cracked up to be.

One of my heroes. Didn't he have a cool sidekick? Sort of Don Quixote type, but less comic than Sancho.
