Hits and Misses and an Occasional Foul
"Trips to The October Country are something you can look back on with nostalgia if you don't stay too long and make sure not to bring back the wrong souvenirs."The beginning of the last paragraph of "Verdery" from Dangerous Roads. Hopefully soon to be published.I thought you were going on about it, but no snowglobe.
Huh. I thought that was off the top of my head, but it must've been squirreled away in the recesses of my memory banks. Once again I rob Dub to pay Paul. Paul Missives, that is - the hidden author of these tomes.
Did you ever read "Verdery?" Story about buying a lawnmower in South Carolina. I visited the October Country for an afternoon and came back with a story to tell. I'm perty sure I sent it to you; it has Towanda the Sprawling Girl in it.And just because I wrote that one line doesn't mean you got it from ME. I'm sure you've had your own experiences with The Wrong Souvenir.Or have you?
Of course I read Verdery. Several times. Heard you tell it several more. It's a classic.
